Funeral services for Harry Hubych, 88, of Terrell, are scheduled for 5:00pm, Friday, February 26, 2010, at Hiett’s LyBrand Chapel in Wills Point.
Harry passed away February 20, 2010, in Rockwall, TX.
Harry Hubych was born October 5, 1921, in New York City, New York to Michael and Eva Manko Hubych, both Russian emigrants. Harry was the youngest of three siblings and grew up and attended school in NYC. He was an accomplished tradesman skilled in every facet of sign making: glass blowing, sheet metal work, sign painting, fabrication and erection. During WWII he served in the US Army as a stateside radar operator in Marin County, CA and was also a civilian welder in a local New Jersey shipyard. In the early 1950’s he moved to upstate NY, where he started his family and owned and ran a small sign shop, United Sign Company. He moved to DeSoto, TX in 1980, to pursue further employment opportunities and be near his son, Michael and grandchildren. In Dallas he worked for City Signs. In retirement he enjoyed the company and comfort of his family in the Dallas area.
Harry is preceded in death by his parents and son, Michael Hubych.
He is survived by sons, John Hubych and wife, Laura of Salt Lake City, Utah, Peter Hubych and wife, Rosalie of New York and Matthew Hubych and wife, Johann Lindig of Golden, CO; grandchildren, Joseph Hubych of New York, Madeleine Hubych and Maxfield Hubych both of Golden, CO, John Hubych and wife, Connie of Terrell, Matthew Hubych, Michael John Hubych, Jr., Dylan Hubych and Harry Christopher Hubych all of Alvarado, Derek Hubych of Canton, Burton Hubych of Terrell and Joel Hubych of Wills Point.
Visitation will be Thursday evening, 6:00-8:00pm, at the funeral home.
