Funeral services for Viola Lay, 83, of Dallas, are scheduled for 3:00pm, Sunday, February 14, 2010, at Hiett’s LyBrand Chapel in Edgewood. Burial will follow at White Rose Cemetery in Wills Point.

Viola passed away February 11, 2010, in Terrell.

Viola Wyly was born October 23, 1926, in the Hiram Community near Wills Point, to Ben Franklin Wyly and Maggie Bell Foster Wyly. She grew up and attended school in Wills Point. On January 1, 1948, Viola married Thomas “Cleck” Lay. They lived most of their married life in Dallas, where Viola worked as a salesperson for H.L. Green Department Store. She retired as Personnel Manager after twenty three years of service. Viola was very active in her church, teaching class and bible study, as long as her health permitted. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Dallas. Viola was a wonderful cook and enjoyed gardening and working in her yard.

Along with her parents, Viola is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-seven years, Thomas Lay and a son, Thomas David Lay.

She is survived by her son, Mitchell Lay and wife, Holly of Quinlan; daughter-in-law, Vickie Lay of Coppell; brother, David Wyly and wife, Charlene, of Amarillo; grand-children, Christopher Michael Lay and wife, Debra of Quinlan, Adrienne Causey and husband, Josh of Coppell and Lauren Lay of College Station; great-grandchildren, Dylan Thomas Lay and Callie Ann Lay of Quinlan and Corban and Cohen Causey of Coppell; and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home, one hour to service time.
