Funeral services for Annie Mae Hoard, 100, of Edgewood, are scheduled for 2:00pm, Sunday, January 24, 2010, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Edgewood, with Rev. Robert Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow at Small Cemetery.

Annie passed away at her home in Edgewood on January 21, 2010.

Annie Mae Mosley was born December 22, 1909, near Quitman in Wood County, to James Thomas and Ella Jane Kendrick Mosley. She grew up in the Morence Community near Edgewood and attended school in the Small Community. Annie had six brothers and three sisters, whom she helped raise from a very early age. On February 19, 1935, Annie married Lewis Hoard. They made their home in Edgewood, where Annie was a housewife and helped in the fields working behind a plow. Annie was an excellent seamstress and could sew without a pattern and cook with out a recipe. She was a member of the Pleasant Union Baptist Church.

Along with her parents, Annie is also preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Hoard, six brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by sons, Jerry Hoard of Mesquite and Gerald Hoard of Edgewood; daughter, Pat Slape of Mesquite; sister, Allene Johnson of Mesquite; grandchildren, Paula Slape of Mesquite, Gerald Hoard, Jr. of Georgetown, Jennifer Kerr of Wills Point, Matthew Hoard of Edgewood, Micah Hoard of Edgewood and Kimberly Wilson of Grand Saline; and six great-grandchildren

Visitation will be Saturday evening, 6:00-8:00pm, at the funeral home in Edgewood.
