In Loving Memory Edith Iolene Turk Russo 12/24/1923 - 1/11/2010

Funeral services for Edith Iolene Turk Russo, 86, of Oak Ridge, TN and formerly of Wills Point, are scheduled for 2:00pm, Saturday, January 16, 2010, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point. Burial will follow at White Rose Cemetery.

Iolene passed away January 11, 2010, in Oak Ridge, TN.

Edith Iolene Slate was born December 24, 1923, in Lindsay, OK, the only child born to Perry Franklin and Alice Adelene Kelly Slate. Much of her youth was spent in Norman, OK and Dallas, where she attended North Dallas High School. In February of 1940, Iolene married Ralph Howard Turk. They lived in various part of the Dallas area, where she worked many of these years as a secretary for Simmons Mattress Company. After Iolene’s retirement in 1983, they moved to Wills Point to make their home. Mr. Turk passed away in 1987, and in 1996, Iolene married John Russo, who passed away in 2003. Due to failing health, Iolene moved to Oak Ridge, TN in 2007, to be near her son. Iolene was an active member of Eastern Star for over fifty years and was of the Methodist faith.

She is survived by her only son, Gerald Wayne Turk and wife, Rebecca of Oak Ridge, TN; granddaughters, Jennifer Boston of Bloxom, VA, Kelly Hackett of San Antonio, TX, Rachel Turk of Jeffersonville, IN, and Sarah Turk-Hofmann of Biloxi, MS; five great-granddaughters; and four great-grandsons.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 12:00pm, prior to the service.
