Mary Castleberry Obituary

Memorial services for Mary Helen Castleberry, 88, of Wills Point, are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Russell Memorial United Methodist Church.

Mary Helen Spears was born December 17, 1929, in Wills Point, TX, to parents, Sam Ed Spears and Juanita Maurine Stewart. Mary Helen was raised in Wills Point and graduated Wills Point High School. She continued her education at North Texas State (now University of North Texas); TSCW (now Texas Women’s University) and East Texas State (Texas A&M Commerce), where she earned her Master’s degree. Mary Helen married Blant H. Castleberry on September 18, 1954, at Russell Memorial United Methodist Church. She worked for Exxon in Dallas, Wynne & Wynne, attorneys, and Wills Point ISD until retiring in May of 1988. Mary Helen has been in the Wills Point Community since birth and was involved in a great many organizations: Member of RMUMC since 1938, Wills Point Historical Society since 1979, Van Zandt County Historical Commission since 2010, Fin & Feather Hunting and Fishing Club since 1957 and Thursday Night Bridge Club from 1956-2000.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Sam Ed and Juanita Spears and husband, Blant H. Castleberry.

Mary Helen is survived by her son, Eddy Castleberry of Wills Point, TX and daughter, Mary Ann Agan and husband, Jim, of Bowdon, GA; grandchildren, Lauren Charles and husband, Landun, of Bryan, TX, Cortney Castleberry of Bryan, TX, Blaine Knowles of Atlanta, GA and Kyle Knowles of Dallas, TX.
