Iva Dell "Betty" Miller

Funeral services for Iva Dell “Betty” Miller, 97, of Mineola, are scheduled for 12:00 PM, Saturday, January 6, 2018, at Sand Springs Baptist Church in Mineola. Burial will follow at White Rose Cemetery in Wills Point. Services are under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time.

Iva Dell “Betty” Lewis was born June 20, 1920, in Comanche County, TX, to parents, William Robert Lewis and Addie Beatrice Jeter Lewis. Betty married Harmon Tom Wilson and they made their home in Eldorado, TX for a few years before moving to El Paso. Harmon preceded her in death in 1967. She then married Harris Z. Miller on October 26, 1968 and they made their home in Alamagordo, NM and Altas, OK before moving to Quitman upon Buddy’s retirement. He preceded her in death after 48 years of marriage. She had been in the Quitman community for 20 years before she and Harris moved to Mineola in 2006. Betty was a seamstress and an accomplished painter. She later retired, but enjoyed quilting and won many awards at the Tyler Fair for their beauty. Betty was a member of the Sand Springs Baptist Church near Mineola.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Addie Lewis; husbands, Harmon Tom Wilson and Harris Z. Miller, along with seven siblings.

Betty is survived by her sons; Joe Wilson of El Paso and Daniel Wilson and wife, Mary, of Laurel, MS; daughters, Tommie Glock and husband, Charlie, of El Paso and Sally Wood and husband, John, of Jarrell, TX; step sons, Chip Miller and wife, Jerry Fay, of Grand Saline, B.J. Miller of Tularoso, NM; numerous grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
