Funeral services for Maxine Dockins, 90, of Mesquite, are scheduled for 1:00 PM, Thursday, February 15, 2018, at Mustang Creek Community Church in Forney. Burial is scheduled for 2:30 pm at Grove Hill Memorial Park in Dallas. Services are under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home.
Family visitation will be held from 11:00 am until service time at the church.
Helen Maxine Dockins was born March 18, 1927, in Leonard, TX, to the late Gernigan Doc Latimer and Lola Bell Bolding. She was raised in Sherman until the age of three years and then her family moved to the Dallas area, where she graduated from Forrest High School. Maxine married Bennie Dockins on March 16, 1946, and they made their home in Mesquite. She was employed for forty years at Southwestern Bell and retired as a chief operator. After Maxine retired, she and Bennie moved to Malakoff and Bennie preceded her in death. After the loss of her husband, she moved back to Mesquite to live closer to her daughters, Joyce and Janelle. Maxine was a member of Mustang Creek Community Church for the last seventeen years. She loved the games show network, spending time with her grandchildren and an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Bennie Dockins; daughter, Janice Moore; grandchildren, Bennie and William Pinson; great-grandchildren, Kelsey Jeter and Hayley Moore; brothers, Emmitt, Rookie and Donald; and sister, Jimmie.
Maxine is survived by her daughters, Joyce Moore and Tomas Wyrick of Vian, OK, and Janelle Hugar of Mesquite; nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
