Funeral services for Harold Glen Staton, 94, of Edgewood, TX, are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 3, 2017, at Cheatham Memorial United Methodist Church in Edgewood. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time. Services are under direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral home in Edgewood.

Harold Glen Staton was born on July 12, 1922, in Elk City, Kansas, to parents, Don and Cecil Irene Staton. Harold was raised in Winfield, KS, where he graduated high school. Harold married Patsy Ann Huffman on August 20, 1952. He served his country in the United States Army 101st Airborne Division during World War II. Harold was reported “missing in action” in June 1944. His family was later notified that he was a prisoner of war. After his time served in the military, he graduated from Henderson State College in Arkadelphia, Arkansas and then later attained his master’s degree in education from North Texas University. Harold coached football, basketball and laid the foundation for the Edgewood high School Golf Team. After retirement, Harold worked full-time at Edgewood Lumberyard. He was a member of Cheatham Memorial United Methodist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a son, James Michael Staton; an infant sister, Rosetta Staton; and brothers, Ed Staton, Richard Staton, Orville Staton and Billie Staton.
Harold is survived by his wife, Pat Staton of Edgewood; brothers, Tommy Staton of Alabama and Jerry Staton of Winfield, KS; children, Susan K. Bates and husband, Kenneth of Myrtle Springs, son, Harold “Hal” Glen Staton, Jr. and wife, Evelyn of Tyler and daughter, Staci Dunn and husband, Robby of Canton; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
