Edgar Ray Bailey, Jr.

Funeral services for Edgar Ray Baily, Jr. are scheduled for 11:00 Am, Monday, May 29, 2017, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home Chapel in Edgewood.  Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery.

Ray passed away May 26, 2017, at his home in Wills Point.

Edgar Ray Bailey, Jr. was born April 25, 1939, in Wills Point, TX, to the late Edgar Ray Bailey, Sr. and Delia Canant Bailey.  Ray was raised in Edgewood, where he graduated from high school in 1957.  He met and married Rita Simmons and they married in Oklahoma August 3, 1957.  Ray and Rita moved to Mesquite, where they loved most of their life.  He was employed in the construction industry and was employed as a supervisor for Ashler Construction Company.  In 1992, Ray and Rita moved to the Bailey home place to be closer to their family.  Ray was of the Baptist faith and occasionally attended Turner Hayden Baptist Church in Wills Point. He loved bass fishing, deer hunting and camping with his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, as well as, his brother, George Bailey and his sister, Francis Pierson.

Ray is survived by his wife, Rita Baily of Wills Point; son, Steven Ray Bailey and wife Debbie Bailey of Elko, NV; daughter, Carron Prigmore and husband Frank, of Campbell, TX; brothers, Robert Bailey of Lindale, TX, and Don Bailey and wife Judy of Wills Point, TX; sisters, Fern McNutt of and husband Bill of Malakoff, TX, and Bennie Alexander of Emory, TX; grandchildren, Jeffrey Prigmore, Wade Prigmore and Stevi Bailey; great-grandchildren, William Taylor Prigmore, II; and many other relatives and friends.

Family visitation will be held one hour prior to service time.
