Charlie was my best and most admired dentistry mentor. Exceptional teacher, so unselfishly taught me so much about oral surgery . I was blessed to accompany him on at least a dozen missionary trips thru the years, and double blessed to have an in-depth conversation with him last year over the phone. We were planning a fishing trip that never happened, but we enjoyed our visit, and he stressed to me how important my call was to him,,, so I learned another lesson from him,,, to never forget your mentors ! and never forget to honor and thank them ! I will always remember you Charlie !!

I didn't know Doc very well but always thought highly of him. When my dad, E. G. "Smitty" Smith, had cancer, he trusted Doc to pull his teeth, even though he was "just a kid." Charles was 3 when my dad graduated from high school, so he'd always be "a kid" to him. They had a great time laughing and telling stories. My dad really appreciated his visits when he was ill and considered him to be a friend.
