Betty Lou Hooks

Funeral services for Betty Lou Hooks, 83, of Edgewood, TX, are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at Cheatham Memorial United Methodist Church in Edgewood. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home.

Betty passed away Saturday, May 13, 2017.

Betty Lou Miller was born August 27, 1933, in Tennessee to parents, James Miller and Alice Young Miller. She was raised in Wills Point where she graduated high school. Betty married Jerry Hooks on July 21, 1957. They made Edgewood their home where Betty raised her three daughters. She was a member of the Cheatham Memorial United Methodist Church in Edgewood. Betty was heavily involved in the community, she started the Edgewood Elementary Volunteer Reading Program, was PTO President of the Edgewood Elementary School and for many years she delivered Meals on Wheels for the Edgewood area.  She volunteered in the church office and also taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School, as well as sang in the church choir. Betty was a loving mother and grandmother and was an avid Edgewood Bulldog supporter in all sports.

She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Alice Miller; husband, Jerry Hooks (1999); one brother and two sisters.  

Betty is survived by her daughters, Beverly Chadwick and husband, Lonnie of Edgewood, TX, Lisa Eggleston and husband, Donnie of Holly Lake Ranch, TX and Mary Alice King and husband, Clay of Edgewood, TX; six grandchildren, Daniel Foster, Jeremy Eggleston, Ashley Chadwick, Justin King, Emily Wuichet and Calvin King, along with three great grandchildren.

Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Edgewood will be open on May 15, 2017, from 3:00-5:00 PM, for anyone who wishes to stop by and sign the register book.
