Memorial services for Arthur Benjamin “A.B” Campbell, 85, of Edgewood, are scheduled for 10:30 AM, Saturday, September 9, 2017, at the Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Edgewood.
Arthur passed away August 27, 2017.
Arthur Benjamin Campbell was born February 12, 1932, in Edgewood, TX, to parents, Claud Carlton Campbell and Mary Etta Marion Hurley. He was raised by his mother and step dad, Hadley Hurley, in Edgewood, where he graduated high school. After graduation, A.B. joined the United States Air Force in 1950 at the age of 18. He married Geneva Welch on September 21, 1951, at Lanewood Church of God in Edgewood. While still serving his country, he and Geneva lived in Alaska for a year and a half. After an isolated tour in Japan and Iceland, he was stationed all over the state of Texas. When he retired from the military, A.B. managed Sanitation, Parks and Streets Departments for the City of Terrell for 13 years and they then bought a small farm in Myrtle Springs for 4 years. They moved back home to Edgewood in June of 1985 and were members of Grace Fellowship Church. A.B. enjoyed cattle, horses and goats, show chickens and loved trading at First Monday.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Claud Carlton Campbell, Mary Etta Hurley and step dad, Hadley Hurley; an 18 month old daughter, Patricia Darlene Campbell; brothers, Leland Campbell and Charles Campbell; sister in law, Mary Helen Campbell and a granddaughter, Stefanie Nicole Casey.
Arthur is survived by his wife, Geneva Campbell of Edgewood; son, David Alan Campbell of Canton; daughter, Barbara Casey and husband, Bob of Edgewood; sister, Mary Lou Ann Nanez and life partner, John Crnkovich of Plano; grandchildren, Rachelle Deal and Scott Casey; great grandchildren, Colin, Courtney and husband, Tyler, Hunter, Briton, Jaxon, Chance and Raylin Nicole.
